Everything went as planned getting out of JFK (except for the few people who couldn't make it to JFK on time due to the inclement weather); however the flight to Seville from Madrid was cancelled without an explanation (or at least one I heard). When we landed in Madrid, it was completely foggy on the ground, so we all thought we were about to go through the clouds and have a good view of the city and suddenly we hit the ground. That's never quite happened to me before. Anyway, all 25 or so of us were put on the next flight, so after waiting at the airport in Madrid (which is one of the buildings with the most glass that I've ever seen) for 4 hours or so, we finally boarded a plane for Seville.
As soon as we got to the airport, I met my senora, who is an amazingly sweet woman! My roommate had missed her flight, so she'll be coming in tomorrow. My senora and her husband took me to her apartment (after dropping off one other girl with a friend of my senora), and gave me time to shower and unpack. Then my senora showed me around the neighborhood. I'm right next to a big shopping center with a movie theater and a ton of shoe and clothing stores. My senora pointed out all the cheap shoe stores, so I'll have to pay one of those a visit soon. I'm also living near a "supermarket," so on the way back, I was able to pick up soap and shampoo. They have many of the same brands, just all the labels are in Spanish. We then went back to the apartment (I have internet access here!) and my senora fixed me rice, a fried egg, and a couple sausages/hot dogs all with a tomato sauce over it plus a salad and bread. It was good, but there was way too much food! I'm tired so I'm off to bed now. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep last night from right after they served dinner (and pushed down the shades on all the windows) to when they served breakfast. It was like the airline was putting us to bed for a very short night. Orientation starts tomorrow!
